Benton Hot Springs Cattle Drive
March 27-30, 2009
$550 (+ 3% BLM fee)

Help ranchers Tom Peek and Ken Zimmerman gather and move their cattle.

Since the 1980's we have conducted cattle drives in the Benton area with the Harris Ranch. We offer trips where we actually help the rancher move their stock...it is the real thing! A highlight of the trip is learning cattle driving and how to work range cattle. Tom Peek shares a lifetime of experience and his knowledge of the land, cowboys and history of training horses.

If you desire, you may bring your own horse. This is an ideal trip for the experienced or novice rider. For beginners, we'll put you on a gentle horse and explain how to work cattle. Seasoned riders and previous guests will be given more demanding tasks and we have the opportunity for lots of saddle time.

In camp, we practice roping while enjoying the hot springs at Benton. We will have one central camp with plenty of good food, campfire stories and music.

Itinerary: Friday March 27, 2009 - Check in time after 3 p.m. at the Old House at Benton Hot Springs. We will have dinner at 6:30 pm and plenty of time to explore the historic buildings and mining town of Benton. If you would like to book a room at the Inn, we can help you with reservations. Otherwise, you will be camping in tents in the "campground" hot-tub area.

Saturday March 28, 2009 - Breakfast at dawn, then mount your horse to ride down to Montgomery Creek gathering cattle. We will be back at Benton Hot Springs for the night.

Sunday March 29, 2009 - Finish gathering the Marble Creek Allotment. After dinner, we'll celebrate with old Mono style party.

Monday March 30, 2009 - The cattle need to be moved toward the Fish Slough. We'll finish in the afternoon, and be back at Benton for departure. by around 3 p.M.
